This is the third life-saving machine, very generously donated by Mr. and Mrs. Henderson of Dunlop and their family, in memory of their daughter Laura. Laura’s family and friends decided to create a lasting legacy in her memory, by providing 24-hour public access defibrillators throughout Ayrshire and Arran, working with the charity St John Scotland. The training followed the recent installation of a public access defibrillator at the caravan park and over 40 people attended. Pictured in header: CPR Lead Brian Gibson and CPR champions Sandy Caldwell and Kevin Fawcett with owners, visitors and people from the local communities of Ballantrae and Colmonell. 10 October 2022 Defib for Kilmarnock Community Sports Trust St John Scotland Ayrshire and Arran committee members and volunteers were delighted to join Jordan Allison, Charity Manager of Kilmarnock Community Sports Trust, on Wednesday 5 October at the unveiling of the 24/7 public access defibrillator at Kilmarnock Football Club’s Rugby Park. St John Scotland helped fund the outdoor heated cabinet which houses their defibrillator. The charity’s volunteers also provided CPR and defibrillator awareness training for the Community Sports Trust. 9 October 2022 75th Volunteer Event Volunteers from around the country attended the St John Scotland 75th Volunteer Celebration in Perth Concert Hall on Friday. The event marked an opportunity to show our appreciation to our amazing network of volunteers across the country, from Patient Transport Drivers to First Responders and many, many more. The Latin inscription reads: 'St. John's Fountain was restored by the curators of public works'. 9 September 2022 Vale HM the Queen: Lord Prior addresses St John People Following the sad news of the death of Her Majesty The Queen today, our Lord Prior Prof Mark Compton has written a letter to all St John people. “Her Majesty always took a keen interest in our work of helping the sick and he poor, and she was very much invested in St John and our worldwide work. Her guidance and support shaped St John into a modern global healthcare organisation, which is deeply rooted in our history as an order of the Crown. Her passing is a great loss, not only for the Commonwealth, but especially for our St John family.” On behalf of St John, our Lord Prior extends our condolences to all members of the Royal Family. He has also written a personal letter to His Majesty the King. May Her Majesty rest in peace and rise in glory. 6 September 2022 Cheque Handover from Methven Castle Champagne Gala To mark Her Majesty’s Platinum Jubilee and St John Scotland’s 75th anniversary this year, St John Scotland Perth & Kinross held a champagne piano recital at Methven Castle this past May. The event raised £13,500 and will be split between three charities – Rachel House hospice (of CHAS), Order of Malta’s Ukraine aid and refugee effort and St John Eye Hospital in Jerusalem 6 September 2022 CPR Training for Saltcoats Labour Club Our Ayrshire and Arran team provided CPR training to the Saltcoats Labour Club on the 4th of September following installation of PAD. The session was led by Brian Gibson, CPR Lead and CPR Champions Colin, Isabel and Douglas. Well done to everyone involved! 31 August 2022 Celebrate Aberdeen Parade Here is the St John Scotland representation at the Celebrate Aberdeen Parade last Saturday! The parade is in recognition of charities in Aberdeen that support the community. There were in the region of 180 charities and over 3,000 in the parade down Union Street also known as the Granite Mile. 29 August 2022 Piping for CHAS Session at Scone Palace Tourists and visitors to Scone Castle enjoyed a treat at the weekend with the St John Scotland Perth and Kinross Piping for CHAS session. The pipers did a phenomenal job and raised around £175.00. 29 August 2022 New Defib and CPR Training for Kilmarnock Church Our Ayrshire & Arran team has been busy doing amazing work to install defibrillators and provide CPR training this month! Dunlop Bowling Club is now home to a Public Access Defibrillator, which can help save someone’s life in the event of cardiac arrest – when the heart stops beating in a normal rhythm. 21 March 2022 Tayside communities welcome installation of defibrillator The rural Tayside communities of Kilry and Glenisla have welcomed the recent installation of a Public Access Defibrillator. The device, which could help save someone’s life in the event of cardiac arrest, has been installed after fundraising by the Isla Parishes charity. St John Scotland have supported the installation of the defibrillator as part of our drive to increase access to these life-saving devices across Scotland. 6 March 2022 St John Scotland celebrates 75 years of service St John Scotland is celebrating 75 years of service. Ewarts butchers, on the High Street, has installed a defibrillator outside the shop, meaning it is available to be used 24/7 in an emergency. 12 August 2021 St John Scotland supports two defibrillators for Ayrshire town A successful community fundraising campaign has seen the town of Newmilns in East Ayrshire become home to two new life-saving pieces of equipment. The Presbytery of Edinburgh is investing £83,000 to buy 49 fully-automated defibrillators for the outside of buildings. A further 15 cabinets will be bought to allow churches which currently house a defibrillator to move this outside for the benefit of the whole community, and so it can be available 24/7. 24 September 2019 Stranraer locals support vital St John Scotland service A charity Will scheme run by Stranraer solicitors Smith & Valentine has raised just over £2,000 for St John Scotland in West Galloway. A year ago today, Donald Scott was on his way to meet friends to go to a Fringe show, when he collapsed in Edinburgh’s Waverley Station. He had suffered a sudden cardiac arrest, and as he lay unconscious on the platform, it was only an intervention from a thoughtful passerby – and a vital piece of equipment installed by St John Scotland – which helped save his life. 22 July 2019 New defib for Dundee Botanic Gardens Dundee's Botanic Garden has welcomed a new item to its collection - not an exotic plant, but a life-saving defibrillator!
