New defibrillator for Clydebank

Publication date 12 November 2021

Faifley Parish Church in Clydebank has become the latest place to install a Public Access Defibrillator with help from St John Scotland.

The minister for the past thirty years, the Rev Gregor McIntyre, and church members were presented with the lifesaving  device by St John Scotland's team of volunteers in Dunbartonshire.

Mr McIntyre said: “We hope the defibrillator outside our Church Hall will prove a blessing to our community. It’s a practical sign that we believe in life, life in all its fullness. We are grateful to St John Scotland for their help to provide this gift to Faifley. Their aim to save life is shown in every defibrillator they can provide and all the other good work they do.”

Around 70 people each week in Scotland have a sudden cardiac arrest, but currently, only one in ten survive. Starting CPR and using a defibrillator can significantly increase chances of survival.

St John Scotland is encouraging other communities across Dunbartonshire to get in touch if they would like help to install a defibrillator, or to request CPR training. For more information, please contact us at defibs@stjohnscotland.org.uk
