The New Cross shopping centre in Hamilton, South Lanarkshire, has become the latest site to install a Public Access Defibrillator with the help of St John Scotland.

Four men pose with a defibrillator

The centre occupies a prime location in the town, and the potentially life-saving defibrillator has been installed on the outside wall at the entrance. No prior training is required to operate the device, meaning it can be used by shoppers, centre staff or anyone nearby, in an emergency.

The defibrillator has been funded by Hamilton BID (Business Improvement District), in partnership with St John Scotland's Glasgow area.

Gareth Walker, BID Manager at Hamilton BID said: “We are delighted to be working with St John Scotland and are pleased to be able to provide a defibrillator for anyone in need who works in or visits the town.”
