Why Volunteer?
Each year, around 3,200 people in Scotland suffer a cardiac arrest at home, at work or in a public place. Only 1 in 10 survive.
Volunteering with St John Scotland means helping to improve those chances through CPR awareness and public access defibrillators (PADs), while also supporting people across our communities through patient transport services.
Improve access to defibrillators
Early defibrillation can dramatically increase survival rates. Our volunteers help expand and support public access defibrillator programmes, making life-saving equipment available in communities across Scotland. Your involvement helps ensure help is never too far away.
Help save lives through CPR
Every year, lives are lost because people don’t know what to do in a cardiac emergency. As a volunteer, you can help change that. By supporting CPR awareness and training, you’ll play a direct role in giving people the confidence and skills to act when it matters most.
Support people when they need it most
Through our patient transport service, volunteers help individuals get to and from essential healthcare appointments safely and with dignity. It’s not just about the journey - it’s about providing reassurance, companionship and care along the way.
